We think that occasional sleeping disorder is not a big deal for our health. But, believe me, the power of sleep deprivation can be penetrating and its effects can hang back. Weaken immune system, thinking issues, and weight gain, are some of the major things that happen to your body when you don’t get enough sleep. Risk of certain cancers, diabetes, and car accidents are some other effects of sleeping disorder that can lead you towards death.

1 Abnormal Weight Gain

Abnormal sleeping patterns can pack your body on pounds that can cause obesity later on. It is said by experts that relationship between weight and sleep is very strong and people who sleep about 5 hours a day are more likely to gain weight and later become obese. The situation later can cause some serious health concerns such as type 2 diabetes, join pain and heart diseases. That is the reason, medical professionals always suggest to enjoy 7 to 8 hours of good night sleep every day.

2 Risk of Cancer

According to health care professionals, the sleeping disorder is directly associated with high rates of cancers such as breast cancer, colorectal cancer, and prostate cancer etc. Workers who work in overnight shifts are more likely to become victims of the situation. But thankfully, people who sleep more than 7 hours a day can have a strong immune system to battle with the cancer symptoms.

3 Thinking Problems

Yes, bad sleeping pattern even in one night can cause major thinking issues, said by medical experts. Sleeping disorder weakens your brain to perform different functions such as thinking, decision-making, reasoning, and problem-solving etc. For example, if you can do a task easily after full night’s sleep, you wouldn’t be able to do the same task in same amount of minutes after skipping the healthy sleeping hours.

4 Memory Loss

When you don’t sleep for more than 7 hours each night, you start forgetting things. Missed sleep of one night can make you more forgetful that can prevent you from doing your day to day jobs effectively.

It is said by experts that healthy sleep is most vital to the process of consolidating the things learned during the day. In simple words, we need complete rest (good night sleep) to store and lock the new information and things in the memory.

5 Diabetes

As it is mentioned in recent lines that obesity is one of the things that happens to your body when you don’t get enough sleep, a bigger waistline increases the risks of developing diabetes. Bad sleeping habits can lead to an increase in the body’s production of cortisol (stress hormone). In this situation, less insulin is released from our body after we eat meals, and this along with the increased cortisol may lead to too much glucose in blood that later can cause type 2 diabetes.

6 Risks of Accident while Driving

You are unable to drive carefully after skipping one night’s sleep and more likely to be involved in a serious accident while driving a vehicle. As overnight shift workers, company drivers and business travelers work for long hours and with odd shifts, they are more likely to get accidents while on the road.

7 Skin Issues

Believe that, your look can get affected by lack of sleep and it is the more convincing thing for many people to get enough sleep. People who sleep less, have more wrinkles, dark circles and uneven skin color than others who sleep for almost 8 hours daily. According to medical experts, when we sleep, skin repairs itself automatically and sleep improves the skin cells growth process to make your skin youthful and glowing.
